Reflections
I completed three internship reflections in PLSC 398. In these reflections, I focus on my goals, successes and learning experiences. You are welcome to read the reflections or browse the key takeaways from my experience.
Key takeaways:
- I had the opportunity to be part of many interesting meetings and conversations while at Brookings. Through this, I was able to learn about all the moving pieces, strategies and considerations that are at play when running communications for a large, non-partisan organization.
- Throughout my three months at Brookings, I gained a versatile public affairs skillset. I was also given a wide variety of projects and responsibilities. I learned I am particularly passionate about strategic/crisis communications and writing.
- I grew increasingly confident in my skills as a young professional while at Brookings.
- Through Brookings's well-developed internship program and frequent events, I learned a lot about D.C. work culture and important political topics.
- I came to Brookings to dip my toes into public affairs. The good news is I learned how much I enjoy strategic communications and that I am good at it. While I certainly still have more room to grow and more questions to answer about my future career, I know this experience will change my trajectory for the better.
